highlights of the week + happy memorial weekend

This week has been all about procrastinating! Sad, but true. I went swimming and it felt great to get in the water and stretch those muscles. I've found that if I don't plan my workouts, I just find excuses not to exercise, so I've been making schedules. I'll go swimming again tomorrow, and I'll ride my bike on Sunday morning.
Memorial Day weekend gets pretty crazy here in South Beach, so I'm planning in staying indoors most of the time.

Signing off, and wishing a great weekend.
xoxo, monica

highlights of the week

Last weekend, I had brunch at Java & Juice, and it is now my favorite spot in SoBe for a healthy meal. The place itself is adorable, the food is amazing and the service is great; what else can one ask? I had scrambled eggs with salmon, a sesame ring with cream cheese, and not one, but two macchiatos.  I've been running on the beach on the late evenings, and it feels so good. Lastly, this pretty scooter caught my eye.

Wishing you a great start of the week!

highlights of the week + happy monday

These past few days I've been trying to break my routine and doing more spontaneous things; I went running early in the morning, had an impromptu lunch with my mom at our favorite cafe, and I went to a yoga class in the beach with two of my friends. It was amazing to see the sunrise while doing yoga, and after we went swimming in the ocean. I was in serious physical pain for the next few days, but it was so worth it and can't wait to do it again.

Have a great week!

highlights of the week + happy weekend

Any plans for the weekend? I had a busy week, but I'm happy I could had breakfast with my best friend Paola and we caught up with our lives. I also had a 12oz macchiato that left me wired. I've been swimming a lot, which feels amazing in this hot weather. I went to the beach and actually swam in the ocean, which I swore I wouldn't do it anymore, but the water was so tempting. I said I only would dip my toes, but kept going and going.

Do something fun this weekend!

Weekend recap #13

I'm know to be a night owl, and waking up early is a struggle for me. But the past few days, I've been making an effort to wake up and see the sunrise, followed by a exercise session (some days bike riding, others running or swimming). I've noticed that my mood has improved, I feel happier during the day, and I sleep better. More importantly, I am more productive, since I have more hours during the day to work on stuff. Win-win!

Wishing you a beautiful week!

Weekend Recap #12

Sometimes, you just need to take a break from everything; whether is taking a day off from work and spending the day at the beach, or taking a moment to sip lavender tea, or just walk over to the pier to watch a sunset, every day I remind myself that even the little things can bring happiness and peace of mind.

On a different topic, I have a feeling this week is going to be epic! This week, I'm hoping to cook more and eat out less, go on more (and longer) bike rides and have a lunch date with my mom.

Monday, here we come!

Weekend Recap #11

A few snapshots from this past weekend. A bike ride, an awesome color palette and the prettiest rose.
What inspired you lately?

Weekend recap #10

These past days have been nothing but work, work, work. But I did manage to have lunch at this Mexican restaurant that opened in Wynwood a few months ago. Taco Coyo serves yummy tacos and they sell one of my favorites beers: Victoria, that used to be hard to find in the U.S. but now more and more places carry it. Yay!

Weekend Recap #9

Every day, when riding my bike, I look around and I feel so lucky to live in Miami Beach. It's just so beautiful. The sky is blue, there's so much green scenery around, amazing architecture and the sun is always shining bright (except when it rains, but it lasts 5 minutes, most of the time!).

This past weekend I felt inspired by this old bike I found, the beautiful facade of  Casa Casuarina (a.k.a. the Versace Mansion), and these gorgeous bugambilias

Hope you have a productive week!

Weekend Recap #7

This past weekend, I discovered a restaurant that's on my list of "Places I have to go ASAP". Oolite is the name and everything on their menu is gluten-free. The place look awesome, so I hope I can have brunch there soon. I also went to the farmers market, like every Sunday.
The weather's been a little cold (for Miami standards) and also windy.
Hopefully, it will get warm soon!

Have a good start of the week.

Weekend Recap #6

The past weekends have been a little chaotic, but I managed to meet my best friend for coffee at a new favorite spot (I'll share it next week), saw some pretty flowers and ate my weight in pastries all week long. Not sorry!
I've been battling a nasty cold, I think it's a way my body is telling me to slow down and get some me time. Will do just that.
Have a good start of the week!

Weekend Recap #5

I can't believe Christmas is this week! This past weekend, I tried to finish my shopping, but I still have to gift-wrap one last present, buy liqueur for Christmas dinner and figure out what I'm going to wear. I didn't have time to do anything else, except one quick bike ride through South Pointe neighborhood, but it relaxed me and left ready to start with the celebrations!

Are you ready for Christmas?

Weekend Recap #4

There's a really festive vibe now in South beach with all the holiday lights on the streets. It's exciting! I have yet to do my Christmas shopping (hopping to cross that off my to do list this week). I've been busy with work, but I made time for my favorite smoothie breakfast and a late night walk through Espanola Way (my favorite street in SoBe).

P.S. Aren't the palm trees all decked out in lights soooo charming?

Weekend Recap #3

Definitely, the highlight of the weekend (and the whole week, for that matter) was Art Basel.  Art, art, art everywhere you go. The city is full of cool, artsy people and there's just this wonderful energy in the air.

Now, it's back to the regular schedule. Happy Monday!

Weekend Recap #2

Did you enjoy the weekend? I certainly did! The temperature dropped a little bit, so it fell like Fall for the first time. I spent a lazy morning reading books in bed, was happy to see pumpkins and butternut squash at the market and went to South Pointe Park on a super windy day.

I now feel refreshed and ready to start this new week (and month)!

Weekend Recap #1

It seems as if time is passing faster and faster every month. Weeks go by so quickly and the holidays are upon us. I spent a wonderful weekend full of my favorite things: bike rides, walking on Lincoln Road during the farmers market, coffee and empanadas at my favorite bakery, and of course, making sure to photograph and document the beauty of it all.
