Swimming at the Venetian Pool

I went to the Venetian Pool a few weeks ago, and loved it! It's the only public pool to be registered in the National Registry of Historic Places. Built in 1924 out of a coral rock quarry, it was inspired by the Venetian Lagoon in Venice, Italy (hence the name, obviously!). It's really a beautiful, beautiful place.

Wynwood Walls

I finally had the chance to visit Wynwood Walls, an outdoor mural permanent exhibition, with works of the worlds most renowned street artists.
Wynwood is the arts district in Miami and it's full of art galleries, cute shops, great restaurants and bars, all surrounded by awesome street art.
Definitely worth a visit!

Miami Beach through my lens: April 2014

Last month, I went to the Miami Polo World Cup. It was a lot of fun! It happens every year, right on the beach, behind the Setai Hotel. The entrance is free, but you can buy VIP tickets. More info here.

Miami Beach through my lens is a photographic quest to discover the great city of Miami Beach.
Starting January 2014, I will explore a new place every month throughout the year, and share my findings with you. Armed with my trusty camera, I aim to get to know this wonderful city better, and improve my photography skills as I go. Tag along!

Panther Coffee

There's no shortage of good coffee shops in Miami Beach, and Panther Coffee became a favorite after my first visit. Located in the uber cool Sunset Harbor neighborhood, it has a very laid back atmosphere, amazing coffee and sweet treats. Check it out!

P.S. Another beloved coffee shop in South Beach.

Miami Beach through my lens: March 2014

Ooops! I'm late again this time to post the March edition of  my photography project. This last month I went to catch a movie at the New World Symphony, a beautiful concert hall in the heart of South Beach. Every Wednesday, they show a movie in the lawn in front of the entrance. Here's the schedule for this season.
People brought chairs, blankets, food and drinks, and it really is a awesome way to enjoy the movies.
This time they showed Breakfast at Tiffany's. I haven't seen this in a long time! I'm definitely coming back next week!

Creative Mornings: Rebel

I attended Creative Mornings last Friday, and had a great time meeting other creative people, and listening Vanessa Garcia speak. Her talk was actually an art performance with her theater company The Krane, and was totally mesmerizing.
This month's theme is Rebel, and Shutterstock, one of Creative Mornings sponsors, commissioned Zach Higgings to illustrate some of the best quotes from previous talks. Love the results!

Miami Beach through my lens: January 2014

Ok! The first installment of Miami Beach through my lens is here. Every month during 2014, I will share a favorite place in this wonderful city I'm lucky to call home.*

To start off the new year, I decided to spend a quiet morning at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, a true oasis of peace and tranquility in the heat of South Beach.
It was my first time visiting the garden, and I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful, tranquil and peaceful it is. I was especially smitten with the Japanese Garden section, with its striking red bridge and fountain.
In addition of providing a lovely green space in the middle of the city, the Miami Beach Botanical Garden offers a lot of educational programs, events, classes and even a farmers market on Wednesdays. Check out the calendar on their website.

*A  note about my project Miami Beach through my lens: Instead of doing a separate website to house this project (like I did with New York through my lens), I decided to just update it here, in my blog.
Also, instead of focusing on Miami as a whole city, I'm only showcasing places in Miami Beach, the city where I live. Since Miami is so big, I thought it would be better to show you my take on Miami Beach, and go a little bit further than the regular old tourists traps.
