Hut on Sleds

I could totally see myself living in this adorable hut located in the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand. This hut was designed by Crosson Clarke Carnachan Architects. From their site:

"Designed to close up against the elements, the hut measures a mere 40 square metres and rests on two thick wooden sleds that allow it to be shifted around the beach front section. This innovative portability is a response to the ever changing landscape that line the beachfront in this coastal erosion zone."

The Sliding House

Check this out: The Sliding House, located in Suffolk, England. This house features a sliding structure that reveals outdoor areas and provide different lighting and atmospheres. I wouldn't mind living here!

Church + Bookstore

I could get lost in this bookstore!  The Selexyz Dominicanen Bookstore in Maastricht in the Netherlands was originally a church that hadn't been used in over 200 years. There are a lot of abondoned churches in the Netherlands, and they are being restored and converted instead of being demolished. I'd love to see more restorations like this one.

56 Leonard

My jaw dropped when I saw this amazing building in Tribeca. 56 Leonard features 145 residences and 10 penthouses that seem to defy gravity. Wouldn't be amazing to wake up to this beautiful view? I'll take the penthouse, please!

Not your regular swimming pool

How bad do I want to swim in this pool? Isn't it amazing?

This pool, located at the Joule Hotel in Dallas, reaches 8 feet beyond the hotel's structure and with a glass window at its end, swimmers get the sensation of swimming off the pool's edge!

Check out more pictures here, you'll want to make reservations at the Joule, too!

Brooklyn Heights + an alley

Brooklyn Heights is one of my favorite neighborhoods in New York City. It's so charming and peaceful and you feel transported to a different era.

Grace Court Alley is a one-block dead end-street located between Remsen and Joralemon Streets.  Originally a horse stable alley used by the Remsen family, Grace Ct is one of the few streets left in New York City where you can actually see how people used to live back in the 1800's.

During the years, Grace Court alley has been used as stables and mews for the houses on the bordering streets. Today we can still admire the beautiful carriage houses with wooden doors and even original hay cranes.

Eventually this alley became residential. Recently a house here was sold for over 2 million dollars!

The Brooklyn Heights Association has worked during the years to avoid large developments and commercial buildings in this neighborhood, trying to preserve its old-world charm.

If you ever come to Brooklyn Heights, be sure to stroll trough Grace Ct alley, you'll love it!
Pictures taken by me.
