Brooklyn Heights + an alley

Brooklyn Heights is one of my favorite neighborhoods in New York City. It's so charming and peaceful and you feel transported to a different era.

Grace Court Alley is a one-block dead end-street located between Remsen and Joralemon Streets.  Originally a horse stable alley used by the Remsen family, Grace Ct is one of the few streets left in New York City where you can actually see how people used to live back in the 1800's.

During the years, Grace Court alley has been used as stables and mews for the houses on the bordering streets. Today we can still admire the beautiful carriage houses with wooden doors and even original hay cranes.

Eventually this alley became residential. Recently a house here was sold for over 2 million dollars!

The Brooklyn Heights Association has worked during the years to avoid large developments and commercial buildings in this neighborhood, trying to preserve its old-world charm.

If you ever come to Brooklyn Heights, be sure to stroll trough Grace Ct alley, you'll love it!
