German artist Nina Boesch creates these amazing collages using discarded Metrocards.
She started doing this as an exchange student living in New Jersey; she wanted to make an inexpensive gift for her host family, but the only thing she had available was her used Metrocards. She created a map of the United States, and they loved it so much that it motivated her to go on.
She sells her collages online and she even makes custom pieces!
