Capogiro: Artisan gelato

D
id you know that there are over 20,000 gelaterias in Italy?

Well, I didn't. So, in case you were planning a trip to Italy just to sample their gelato, you can cancel those airplane tickets, because there is a gelateria in Philadelphia that serves real gelato, you know, the kind that makes you believe you're in Italy.
Capogiro was established in 2002 by Stephanie and John Reitano. After a vacation in Italy, they decided to bring authentic Italian gelato to the U.S.
I first learned about Capogiro in a lovely article published by Departures magazine, where Stephanie explains how she tried gelato from every region in Italy, until she found the right one, and she even shared an amazing recipe for her Espresso Noir gelato.
To make this gelateria even more incredible, they use only fresh ingredients, and they make fresh batches every morning (every morning!)
So, if you're in Philadelphia, be sure to try it out. In the meantime, I'm going to visit their locations in New York, because my mouth is watering already.

Have a great weekend!
